That's Shiloh's "Can we get on with the walk, please?" face. I had stopped on our way out of the yard to snap a picture of my garden. He sat down between me and the garden and gave me The Look.

Obedience is going fine. He already knows the stuff, but it's really good to socialize with other dogs because he can be quite aggressive with them. He has very little patience with wiggly happy all-over-the-place dogs. They are all friendly, but he has to make everything orderly. I guess that's what sheepdogs do. He's gotten over his fear of groups of kids when we're out walking, but if they want to pet him, he still gets very fearful. Little by little, we are making progress.

Bleeker, is Pearl a Maine Coon cat? She sure is pretty. I have a mouse (or three) and I need to borrow a cat.

Yes, she is a Maine coon cat indeed.

Oooh Tulip, those markings scuh-ream blue heeler to me. The marking around the feet are totally heeler. My heeler/springer spaniel had the same markings on her lower leg, and my roommmate's heeler female threw a ton of babies with those markings. The ears though, wow whatever it is it's an interesting combo. Glad to hear you're reaping the benefits of the wicked smarts that cattle dogs have.

That's was the initial guess, but I'm pretty certain that he's not cattle dog at all, but Border Collie and English Setter. He certainly has all the border collie attributes, and I got him from a border collie rescue group. As for the English Setter, that would explain the spots, the silky ears, and the pretty intense pointing. Also, all the cattle dogs I've seen have brown on them, and this one has no brown. One of these day's I'll spring for one of those canine DNA tests, but not today.

How come I can't see Pearl?

I've heard the canine DNA tests come out so odd on mixed breeds that you can't believe it. Like, I can't believe my Great Pyrenees is 90% Jack Russell Terrier.

They don't have very many breeds identified, something like 58 or something like that.

    Ok, how about now?
If you can see the two pix of Pearl now in that previous post, it's because TE likes pix on Flicker web albums more than on Picasa web albums. (be sure to hit 'refresh') I put them on Flicker this time instead of Picasa, as a test.
