Clipless Pedals- Update!

I just got my first pair so I won't be any help with your cleat question but I love mine! I was freaked out that I would fall over cause I wouldn't be able to unclip but they were great. I got Speedplay Light Action's and you can get covers for those, coffee shop covers I think they call them, for when you need to walk around. I bet your pedal manufacture has some to if you google it.

I have coffee covers for my Speedplay Light Action. Helps keep the dirt out of the cleat and makes them a little more stable to walk on. I don't know if any of these would fit your Looks: http://www.thefind.com/sports/info-look-cleat-covers

Their lightweight so you can carry them in your jersey pocket.

I don't bother with cleat covers. Inside a store, your main problem is traction - cleated shoes are very slippery! (And of course the funny looks everyone else will give you.) Outside, cleats will wear when you walk on them, but unless you're walking in them a lot, they'll wear a whole lot more just from you putting a foot down at stop signs. They're definitely a wear item. Mine last about 3,000 miles. But that really depends on your terrain and how often you have to put a foot down, as well as how much you walk on them.
