The roads on the actual bike course were MUCH better than the roads I was spinning around on the day before! Thanks to your city for literally shutting down major roads to have this race! It was wonderful!
I heard that she ran into the "end of a marathon."Not quite! Those times would be pretty rough for a marathon! Oh, yes, the snakes were pretty funny. They were not any rattlesnakes, thank goodness. I did hear people talking about them while we were passing them!
Kacie---
a question that bothers me everyday and I keep forgetting to ask, in prep for my HIM in July...
HOW WHEN WHERE do you get to pee during the race? Or do you just have to hold it all those hours? In the Olympic distance I can hold it the 3 hours I take, but in a HIM?
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

For Barb's Race last year there were porta potties at the aid stations on the bike course and the run course. There were 3 aid stations on the bike and one at every mile on the run. I'd assume they are setting it up the same way for the Vineman 70.3.
I used them when there were no lines. I think there might have been some at the bike/run transition too. I know there were some at the start at Johnson's Beach.

Congratulations on your HIM success.
I can only infer from your posts- but you seem like a pretty positive person - I think that's the key to your success - overcoming doubts with positive thoughts while racing - telling yourself that you are well trained. Way to go!!!

thanks veronica, and what GOOD advice to go when there are no lines! Knowing myself everytime I see one without a line, I'll run in...hahaha. I know that I can make the bike without going...it is the run!
Ok--so even though I am currently sitting around the house icing the parts of me that still hurt, I have finished planning the rest of my season! You might remember that DH had a big accident, so our summer plans have changed to staying around a bit more....so I decided to use that as an opportunity to do more triathlonsI signed up for a sprint in 3 weeks, Kansas 70.3 in June, another sprint in August, and the Georgia 70.3 in september! I might have lost my mind
Now I just have to stay positive that everything that hurts from the NOLA 70.3 will heal up nicely so I can get back into training slowly next week and start building some the week after that!
That's beautifully ambitious Kacie!Excited to hear how things progress.
Don't be to hard on yourself about a longer recovery, that's to be expected with a longer race. How awesome that you have two more cracks at it!![]()

Sounds like a great race. Thanks for the report. Good job! That's quite the ambitious season you have planned. I'm tired just reading it.![]()
Sorry I am so late reading this!
You did an absolutely awesome job! ! ! And it went well enough to go do it again.
I LOVED the race report - very descriptive. However, the numb feet is much easier to read about than experience
I was especially pumped to hear how how you worked through the mental aspect of it all.
And I loved the line "we were all kacie's) PERFECT
Will be looking forward to more race reports
It's about the journey and being in the moment, not about the destination
Kacie: I just came across this thread. Can't believe I missed it all this time! Congratulations on the great finish and positive race. And also on being so in love with tri's that you signed up for SO many more! WOW!
Have you posted pics elsewhere? Cannot wait to see them.
This helps get me in the mood, too. Mine seems so far off with winter still wanting to hang on here in the Pacific NW, but the reality is it's only 8 weeks away.![]()
