I have been eyeing that skirt/legging combo for running, too.
Susan, my experience with Athleta is that everything fits well, is well made, and they listen to their customers' needs. I have one of their running skorts, but the shorts part are more like underwear, like the inside of running shorts. I wear it, but I'd rather get one with bike-like shorts underneath. There are so many cute skorts around, but many of them are regular sizes and even the size 2s are too big in the waist for me. I do better with xsmall, small, etc. I guess no one will be making petite sized skorts...
I had the same reaction to the back of those pants. I would wear them if the liner looked less, ah, gross.

I just pretty much wear black leggings/capris with various short skirts every day for everything anyway- it's my typical uniform in normal life. I don't really need them to buy them attached to each other, but it's a clever idea if it fits you well.

I have about 10 different short skirts in prints, a few boleros in various prints and colors, and I usually team everything with the black capris and a black top. I only wear the boleros sometimes for variety, mostly just a black top.
It's a wardrobe that I can do most everything in, and works really well for me- especially with my 'pear' shape.

As reinforcement, it wouldn't be effective on the inside. It's not a pad; it's solely for abrasion resistance. I have a pair in black (you hardly notice the reinforcement panel), and if I'm going any significant distance, I wear a cycle liner underneath for padding.

You all have been VERY helpful with your feedback. I'll be sure to send a link to this thread to Sheila, so that she can read your feedback as well.

I love Sheila Moon and her design and far be it from me to disagree with her. And where is my button that says "ask me about my degree in design". Back in the day I was in school this was called "social error".

That is the t-shirt with the logos right smack dab on the b00bs, the typo that is an obscenity in Farsi for a product bound for the Middle East ...

I don't want to beat a dead horse but while her clothes are a wonderful solution for cycle wear you can step off the bike and into the store or a meeting. WE understand why someone would want abrasion resistance, preaching to the choir!

People in the store or meeting who we are trying to wow with our coolness and hipness will not.

Looking through the eyes of a non-cyclist it looks just wrong.

The outfit is almost perfect yet I bet RuPaul (see RuPaul rides thread) has no visible abrasion resistant stripe or chamois pad. Knowing Sheila she'll find the perfect pad for the fabric or vice versa and have a version that is even more stunning.

Yes, Lisa, I saw your very stylin' Sheila Moon combo when we met in July. I just couldn't wear the leggings in warm weather; first of all any leggings I buy will be tights on me, and secondly, I would be too warm.
One thing I did learn from living in a desert climate, is that it is cooler to wear skirts or sundresses when it is warm. I tend to wear short skirts and sleeveless tops as my uniform when it is 80 or above. When it is cooler, I wear capris or long shorts. I hardly ever wear regular length shorts anymore.
The Sheila Moon bolero I bought didn't fit me right, so it went back. I bought a plain black one from Terry, but I hardly ever wear it; I'm always too hot or too cold with it on when riding, so it probably has limited usefulness to me. I do wear arm warmers a lot, though.
I really like those houndstooth pants and would wear them to class, but not with the abrasion patch.

Yes, we all have different clothing needs.

I gotta say it- those pants look like plaid to me, not houndstooth. My mother was a big fan of houndstooth (BIG houndstooth no less) to the point where it annoyed me as a child- I used to think she'd use any excuse just in order to say the word...."houndstooth". Of course I would simply love to hear her say it now that she's gone.

It *is* houndstooth, though. A very small houndstooth that really is quite beautiful. Sheila calls it "lunatooth" because she has a hound named Luna.

The pants are certainly cute and seem to be inspired by (horse) riding breeches. And the patch has to be external to be functional.

Riding pants would tend to have a bigger patch. While you don't need the same amount of coverage when riding a bike, I think a bit bigger of a patch that's more integrated into the pants would look better stylistically.
