Sheila's britches always have a reinforced seat panel for urban riding. (Think messengers.) In most years, it's been a "tonal" fabric, so it blends. On her houndstooth, she's using a solid panel by necessity.

What do others think?

I got the idea for having something more hard wearing on the seat, but I doubt I'd ever wear anything that makes me look like I sat in something or worse... my vote is back to a better match. I would guess that the tougher stuff is very limited in color selection, but even a close brown would probably be preferable.

Well, hmmm.... i'd think you'd want to avoid brown or red!


I am a HUGE fan of Sheila's 'Go Go'/ballet skirts (wearing one now) and boleros. I wear them several times a week and have 4 diff skirts and 4 diff boleros all in mix and match patterns. It's almost my everyday uniform at this point!

I had the same reaction as Eden. Why is the reinforcing pad on the OUTSIDE?

You can rub holes in regular fabric pretty quick with a bicycle saddle.

Dark brown would definitely look bad.... but something that matches the field color of the pattern seems like it would blend OK.

I agree w most everyone about the panel - something less obvious, that blends better w the pants leg, would be good.
