Played hooky and did the Bike Journal ride up Mt Diablo. Deviated off course with a couple of the guys and we actually went up the North to the junction and then down the south side, where we met up with the group and rode back up - this time all the way to the summit. Well, I did. Those guys I started with (Twain and GW_12) kept going back and forth up the hill like sheepdogs with the group. I bet they did the equivalent of 3 ascents.

Had fun riding with Veronica and aka_kim. (Kim is a total complete utter irrevocable unredeemable sandbagger, by the way. ). Had a recovery feast of V's cookies - yum!

Glad you liked the cookies. I made them just for you this morning. Well and for everyone else.

It was another lovely day out on the mountain. I didn't think I had enough time to get to the summit and make it to my meeting, so I ditched the group at the Junction. I was really glad I put on my coat for the descent. It was a bit nippy. The poppies are out in full force. I didn't stop for pictures unfortunately.

I got home with plenty of time to eat lunch and shower. I think if I had gone on to the top I'd have been stressed out, trying to make it back in time.

I rode the Great Dismal Swamp Canal Trail with 3 other friends. Great ride until the helicopter flew over and dropped a blanket of industrial strength mosquito repellent. So gross!

Anyway, it's a flat and fast 8 mile trail, so 8 out and back for a total of 16 miles.

I had scheduled to lead a relatively short (15 mi) club ride after work - except no one showed up! I guess they were all scared away by the impending weather. So I toodled around by myself for a while and then went home, because honestly, I wanted to watch the 3 hrs of the last ER episode anyway!
