Thanks guys. I don't think this is a case of him not being abot to hold it. I work from home so I'm here to let them out frequently. It's more clearly a case of marking his territory and trying to establish dominance.
There have been no incidents in the last 2 days as he is getting used to the routine around here. Crating is getting better but he still will not go voluntarily into a crate. I think the vet said it best - he's got a sassy streak! I'm thinking it's the red hair cuz my son has the same thing, lol.
Sundial - I put him in my room last night. He only threw a fit for about 45 minutes but everytime I moved in bed he started crying. I think I will continue to let him spend some time cuddling with my son in his bed when I tuck my son in, and put him in my room in his crate when I go to bed. Now all we need is for the snow/sleet to stop so we can all go for a walk!
Lisa - I think it's great you released the salamander and even better you're infamous for riding your bike! Btw, I loved the pix of you and your daughters! It looks like you had a great visit.
