I'm right at the height threshold that made the bike feel awkward to me. I went with the 26" Epic. I do remember riding a 29'er and feeling like I was sitting "in" the bike rather than "on" the bike. It should smooth out the ride for you and I think you'll love how it handles. But for me, it just felt too large and awkward--like a VW minibus.

PsyclePath, I know who put you on the Fisher. I would trust what he says and he has the experience to back it up. And I second the mtb skills--it truly translates to road bike and I'm a better roadie for it.

I have wanted a 29er for years. I'm quite tall, so I figured it would suit me well. I also have a bad habit of going over the handlebars, so I thought a 29er would help with that, too. But I held off because I was too attached to my lovely old 26ers. Seriously. I thought I'd hurt their feelings, and I would be too sad, soooooh . . .

I got over that, finally. I've ordered a 29er frame and the build is going on now. Hopefully soon I'll have some pretty pictures to post of it. It's a titanium hardtail by Voodoo Cycles (of course ).
