March 28th Rides

Well, Fredwina, as you know ... today was a beautiful day for me, because the PINK club jerseys came in! But it was also a beautiful day because ... well, it was a beautiful day. Perfect weather.

I did the Solvang Century two weeks ago and three climbing rides the week before to prepare ... for a total of 12,000 feet in an 8 day period. I am so proud of myself that I was able to do all of that, which is more than I have ever put my body through ... but my body was SO done after that and needed an extended recovery. Then I got sick, so today was my first day where I felt like I was really BACK. And it felt so good! I did the intermediate club ride (didn't think I was ready for the 12% grade ... though, in retrospect, I probably would have been fine). But it was even more fun to do the intermediate ride, because I KILLED it! I did it faster than I've ever done it (17.2 pace) and beat everyone up Benson. This is the first time I've ever beaten any group of people up any hill ever! I even had to sprint at the end to keep my lead, but I succeeded.

So, today was a BEAUTIFUL day for me in the world of cycling.
