    Great, Melody! A new face!

Pace to me means the speed we'll probably travel out on the open country roads - not the average speed from start to finish -- but this is a total guesstimate on my part. We are a friendly group and absolutely no one gets dropped.

All 3 groups will ride together through town/campus before we hit the open country so you can always change which group you want to ride with. Who knows, we may all stick together all the way to Winters before breaking apart. It was nice of the transportation planners to give us so many convenient road options.

Wow - I'd love to do a long flat ride - seems all I've been doing is riding hills lately, getting ready for the Bike Against the Odds on 10/9...

I'm signed up to do the training ride for the BAO 30-mile route this Sunday with Cindy, so I won't be able to join you - darn it!

So many rides, so little time! I hope you guys have a wonderful time! I'd really like to do the next flat ride with you all (there will be another one, won't there?)

Unless we have some kind of weird geologic event here, YES!

    Hello all-
you might have another newbie joining you. This sounds like a lot of fun, and I like the idea of a flatter ride for one of my first long ones. I have been doing about 20-25 mile loops near Palo Alto, but have been avoiding the BIG hills still. Is anyone else thinking about coming from the peninsula/south bay that would be interested in carpooling?

Fabulous! Not only is it about as flat as it gets, but there is very little traffic.

Sounds good to me SadieKate! I rode this last weekend with HillSlug and she had metioned to me that I am stronger then I admit!! So I might opt for #3. I ride here in the foothills so a nice long flat ride is what I need to break the hill routine!

    See you Sunday!

Well, we all know what that would be here in the fault zone! Let's hope Davis stays nice and flat, and the Oakland hills stay nice and hilly, and the bay stays in the bay! (Katrina's got me a little overly-sensitized to natural disasters! My office-mates and I are talking about getting cheap mtn bikes to keep here in our SF office - when the "big one" hits and the bridges go down, we can ride all the way around the bay to get to our homes in the East Bay!)
