St Patty Day Rides

I did a short 12 miles yesterday. Beautiful weather here in the Atl. New bike, new road shoes--wow those slippery things are hard to get used to after the mtn shoes. Spent lots of time practicing clipping in and out, stopping. Slow going for me until I get the hang of things.

I only did my 6 mile (ha-roundtrip) commute. It was all I could do not to play hookey and not go home, but Karma had puppy class.

I did!

I rode my commute home (left my car at work) for about 20 miles. It was dry and a perfect temp in the high 40's. I didn't see anything great, but I did hear both bullfrogs (when I passed a nature preserve) and what I *think* was a horse giving birth. If not, some poor horse was in a lot of pain! I'm going with the miracle of birth in my mind though.

I also decided to do something new. I'm calling it RE-cycle. Everytime I ride, I'm going to pick up one piece of trash and either repurpose it, reuse it, recycle it or, as a last resort, relocate it (to a trash can). Last night I grabbed a plastic lid to some bin type thingy and because it has a nice lip on it, I'm going to use it as a tray for seed starting in our greenhouse. This morning on the way back in, I picked up an empty powerade bottle. That'll either become a codling moth trap or I'll cut off the top half (and recycle it) and use the bottom to start seeds in...

St. Patty's day is our anniversary and so Mr. Sundial took the day off and together we rode to the diner for lunch. It was sunny, breezy, mid-60's and just beautiful weather. I wore my shamrock socks.
