I think the swim TIMES are less important than finishing the swim with good energy. If that means swimming slower and more relaxed breathing, not trying to keep up, or push ahead, it is often worth it. The advantage the good swimmers have isn't the minutes they get ahead, those get reduced in the bike and run easily, it is the finishing not too tired and starting the bike well.
I totally agree & that's something I'm working on. Unfortunately the pool is closed the remainder of this week for cleaning. Not sure if I will be able to find another pool to swim in until it opens again.*shrug*
