Sorry I missed you. I was out of town all week and my flight got in at 11pm last night so I didn't get on the course till a little after 8 this morning and just did the 30 miles and came home. Did you make it? How was it? The weather was great this morning. I got done around 10:30am so it hadn't gotten too hot. Maybe we will have another chance to hook up.

While you were gone, I changed my name! Audio-A is now Pedal Wench!

The ride was wonderful! I ran (not literally!) into Skibum, and she pulled me quite a while - a good 25 miles! There was a strong headwind, and I probably would have given up on the century if I hadn't gotten such a good ride with her! (Skibum - thanks - someday, if I train really, really hard, I can repay the pull!)

The ride was good fun. Rolling hills the whole way, nice turnout, and great rest-stops. I wonder how many people did the century. It seemed like about 100 - 200 people. Hard to tell, since a few huge pelotons passed me early in the ride.

Next up, Beautiful Backroads Century! See ya Saturday!

Oh - and thanks to Skibum and everyone else I rode with (met up with a great group of tri-people for the rest of the ride) I had a personal best on a century! Average speed of 15.2 mph. I know, not great, but the best over that distance for me!

The weather was almost perfect for a century ride -- sunny, cool, low humidity. If it only wasn't for that darned headwind. I really need to find a better mantra than 'I hate this wind' for riding on windy days.

There was a large turn out. Probably a couple hundred riding the full century and a couple hundred more doing the shorter routes. Since the course is so nice, a lot of the racers (and people who don't race but are very fast) try to do a 4 hr century. They didn't quite make it this year but came close. The lead peloton of 60 riders finished with a 23-24mph avg.

Pedal Wench, it was nice riding with you. I got lost in my own world for a little while and didn't realize I had sped up and dropped you off the back. I'm glad to hear you found some other people to ride with. I joined in with a variety of groups throughout the day. Like you, I met some nice people and had a fun ride.

See ya next week at the Beautiful Backroads Century. I'm not sure I'll be recovered enough to do the full route. Right now the 70 mile option is sounding awfully appealing
