Hi, Jo! Sorry about your shoulder! yikes! That sounds like the injury I had 7 or is it 8 years ago....I broke my humerus in 2 places, required surgery to place 3 pins that stayed in for 4 weeks. It was a heckuva learning experience.
I learned long after that physiotherapists can do ultrasound on broken bones and that helps them heal faster. See if you can start on the physio right away? I also learned that any exercise you do with your good side will benefit the injured side something like 30% or so....must be the endorphins moving around or something. So, go for some nice light weight workouts to help heal!
And, yes, take advantage of the forced relaxation to find something that really delights you. I got into photography beause of the broken shoulder, and it's been a very cool thing for me...might even turn into a different career at some point...
