My grandson got one of those (a Specialized version) for his 3rd birthday, and he was running off on it within an hour! He needs the seat moved up which I forgot to do when I was there, so he is preferring the tricycle at this time. He has a bigger bike with training wheels but that thing is so heavy he hates to ride it. I think when he gets a little bigger, he will be able to ride it without the training wheels the first try.
