I just posted this in a Facebook album and then promptly remembered this thread, so I thought I'd share. I think I was four or five in this picture (I can't quite remember how old I was when the training wheels came off of the bike). I do know that we were living in Germany at the time.
Anyway, yes. Apparently bikes have always made me smile.
DEX: That is SO cute!

Tantrumbean, that second picture is outstanding!
Dex, you are just adorable!
Dex, you look so adorable. I think it's cool that your bike had a built in rear rack.

I do think it's funny to look at pictures of me when I was a kid. I was pretty stinkin' cute back then, so I always end up wondering what happened. Hah!
It's a shame that I don't remember much about that bike except how much I loved it. (The basket had brightly colored plastic daisies on the front.) We didn't bring it back with us when we left Germany, because I'd outgrown it by that time and it had been replaced with a shiny green 3-speed.
Zen, it does look like there's a front brake on the bike now that I'm looking at the pic more closely. Interesting.![]()
There's a brake caliper on the front wheel, too.
That is a very sweet picture!
