    q. about sizing on GORE alpine thermal jersey

I asked for a long sleeved jersey for Christmas, and DH came through with not one, but two. I'm very happy with the fit of the lightweight one. The other one is the very warm GORE alpine thermal jersey, and it is awesome, but I am not sure if the fit is right.

Question one -- is it designed to be worn with just a sports bra underneath, or with another jersey or thin layer underneath? Because the size he got me fits with no room to spare, and I'm wondering if it's the right size or if I should go up one. (Also wondering how it will fit after I've burned off the holiday fudge.) It is also not super long in the torso, and because it's tight I'm fairly sure it will ride up a bit. Women's jerseys often do, as I have a belly and the jerseys do not.

Question two -- are the sleeves intended to come up to where my thumb meets my palm? Because that's how long they are on me. Also making me wonder if going up a size might not be the solution.

Question three -- the interior is ever so slightly fuzzy, and I'm wondering if that could get annoying on rides. I might be able to squeeze a cami under it, but definitely no long-sleeve layer.

Any thoughts very much appreciated! It is a beautiful jersey, but if it's not going to be right for me, I want to figure that out and return/exchange it while I still can.

I have no idea how these are 'supposed to' fit, but from your comments, it sounds like YOU would enjoy the jersey more in a larger size. So, just exchange it if you can.

I have a couple of the Gore Amazone jerseys. They fit true to size, which means there's little room underneath for layering (aside from your sports bra).

    Finally wore it ...

So I finally wore this jersey today on my morning commute. It is awesome.

(This is the first time I've ever ridden my bike to work in the winter. Granted, the weather is unseasonably warm, but mornings are still quite nippy. It's a 10-14 mile commute depending on the route. I took the 14 miler for the first time ever.)

The commute was awful. Not because of the cold, but because of the wind. I had a nasty, gusty cross-wind that kept trying to blow me into traffic. Because it was gusty, I also had to worry about overcompensating and running myself into a ditch. I was in constant terror, using every ounce of my concentration the whole time to keep myself more or less near the shoulder. In fact, as I type this, I can feel the lean, kind of like how after you get off of a boat, you feel like the ground is unsteady beneath your feet.

Anyway. The point is this. This jersey is awesome. I wore it over an extremely thin silk long john top. I couldn't feel the wind on my skin at all. I was not cold. I was not warm. I was perfectly comfortable. I love this jersey.
