Las September, I did (most of) the Civil War Century, out of Thurmont, MD. Alas, I had some ... issues... and had to take a sag back to the start. In the van, we had a woman from VA with a beautiful new Seven ID8, painted a metallic rust and quite pretty. Buried deep under the other bikes in the back of the van was my own, unpainted, Seven ID8, a year older than hers. We chatted for a bit. Not much.
Today, I was riding back from a loop through Rock Creek Park with a friend of mine, and I passed this woman on a beautiful rust colored Seven ID8. I complimented her on her bike. She complimented me on mine (I was on my older Seven Axiom today). I grasped at straws. "Did you do the Civil War Century last September?" Yes. "Did you have to take a sag to the end?" Yes. OMG...we shared the van together! It was the same woman! How strange was that???

I did a 29 mile killer climbing club ride today. 1600 feet, with some it at a stupid steep grade. I wasn't going to do it. I was going to do the "intermediate ride" with much less killer climbing ... however, I was SUCKED in.

But I'm proud to say I pretty much conquered it. (For me anyway!) It's the first time I've done it this season, and I did it better than I ever have with no stops on the killer steep parts, which is a first.

So, yeah, I'm totally inspired. Woo hoo!

And hey ... I rode past Fredwina and had to do a double take! Sweet new ride, Fredwina!

    Talking best ride EVER!!!

Hey there! I had my second ride on the road since september (out because of back injuries) I rode 25 miles of AMAZINGNESS today. No pain... and I met some new friends who are also training for the MS 150... exchanged numbers and going to go to pint night together on tuesday! It was really fantastic and I learned about new paths to take!!!

Also, Look at mapmyride.com and you can find some local rides in your local area!!!!

All of those pictures are great. I just have to remember to take some while I am riding. I usually forget.

I have been trying to get my life organized so that I can do more bike commuting. My hardtail has a new fork and new rim with a quick release, so that when I flat I will not need a tool chest to take the wheel off. So this afternoon, I left the house with everything, I thought. A few blocks down the road, I realize that I NO water! Yikes! I thought of the thread of dumb things you have done on your bike. Well this classifies for me. I called DH and he filled some of my polar water bottles and brought me 2. I could not thank him enough. I put in about ten miles-one way, twenty RT-or so over varied terrain using the local bike trails here in town. I went to my destination in about an hour. Had a cliff shot and came back at a more leisurely pace.

I have realized how out of shape I am. At least that is what it seems like to me. My DH laughs because I'm in better shape than he. He is at least working on it though.
