Well I don't have compartment syndrome myself but my boyfriend does. He is a PT and he also used to run in college, did tons of running after that and still does. One thing I have noticed is that when it tends to flare up on him he hasn't been hydrating enough. This is very important to keep enough fluid between the muscle and the irritated membrane surrounding it. The membrane is where the pain comes from. This is just an FYI post because I know it helps him. He will also ice it and elevate it when it gets really bad if you don't already do that. Hope that helps.
