I wouldn't have a bit of guilt from throwing away something that would otherwise be perfectly fine to eat, except it would be bad for me. I've thrown away lots of halves of birthday cakes, brownies, etc., that we had for special occasions. The guilt of not taking care of my body would be much worse!

Oh, I know that guilt. It usually comes at the end of a "bad eating day" I'll call it when you feel sick because: 1) you over-ate and/or had things you knew were not the best choices--physical sickness, 2) mental sickness-- because have 'eating-regret'... sorta like buyer's remorse.

My official gym weigh in showed me very close to my goal weight... so my will power just got a much needed happy kick in the butt!

Do you still have any of the clothes that you wore before you started losing weight? If so, go put on a pair of the old pants, hold out the waistband to see how huge they now are on you, take a picture of it, and carry the picture around with you as a will-power boost.

I do feel guilty about wasting food but not enough to waste my body. I prefer the dump it on the office method. It actually is nice to see someone grab a cookie/chocolate/candy and have a smile on their face, you have brightened their day and made yours better by not eating all that candy!

One night I was dying for jolly ranchers, bought a huge bag but couldn't stop myself from overindulging. So I just put the rest in the lobby candy dish! I wanted them for myself but I have ZERO willpower.

I don't keep any of my "fat" clothes, because knowing I would have to buy new clothes keeps me accountable to maintaining my weight.

Today the owner of my gym told me he ran across my "before" picture they took when I first started up with them 16 months ago. It is truly hideous, AND it was after I'd already lost 20 lbs!

I put it on the fridge.

"Before" photos work, too. Anything to remind you of how much you've accomplished.
