Hi all, found this site and had to come on for info... I have been cycling and trying to build up both speed and distance etc, have tried a few saddles but still having trouble post ride with my coccyx. not my sit bones although they do suffer minimally during long ride but absloute hell for my coccyx after the ride and the day after. I need to sort this as I am doing a cycle for 5 days (charity) in NOvember. I have tried mans seat too

    thanks in advance.

Flame - what kind of bike do you ride and what seat does it have on it?

Im only new to riding so doubt if I can help but knowing the bike you ride and so what position your body is in when riding may help some of the more experienced riders here answer your question.

I have a trek 300 womens (a bit too sit up style i think) Have downloaded a "fitting guide" from another discussion group, within this site, Its been really helpful and I have moved my handlebars, bought a women specific saddle and moved it right back too. It felt great short term but tomorrow will be tester..... watch this space.

    thanks

Honestly, it sounds like the bike isn't set up properly. I could definitely be wrong on this, but it seems like if it were just a saddle issue, it would be the sitbones or soft tissue that was causing pain. You shouldn't have your weight on your tailbone. It sounds like you could be too upright. Maybe you could get a longer stem. If you purchased your bike recently, maybe you can ask your lbs to do a fitting to make sure its set up properly.

Ok, I just noticed that you have a comfort bike which has a more upright position. I have zero experience with this type of bike so my comments could be completely off. I would still recommend going to your lbs though and asking for a fitting if you aren't comfortable and can't figure it out. They might be able to tell by you just biking around the parking lot a little.

I had tailbone pain with the first cutout saddle that I tried. The next saddle with a much wider cutout worked great.
