Some people get hot spots when they use small cleat/small pedal systems, since you take the force over a smaller part of your foot. You may want to switch to a pedal with a larger platform. Also take a good look (and a good feel) at your cleat bolts and make sure they aren't sticking up *through* the sole of your shoe.... (there's usually nothing there to stop them, so if you have thin soles or long bolts they can actually stick up into your foot )
