Not an easy topic to discuss with one's partner either! Give bf a big hug from all of us here. Congrats for his courage in discussing this with you, and congrats to you on your choice of bf! Oh, and of course, good luck getting this solved. Big relief if it indeed proves to be a mere saddle issue, with a saddle change accomplished in time to solve it
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

Am happy to report that we now have a Selle Italia Max Flight on the road bike (so all 3 bikes now have cutout saddles) and there seems to be marked improvement after even just a few days.

YYYYeah Selle Italia As a bonus, he now has a white saddle/white handlebar tape on his road bike JUST like I have. Coincidence? I think not....

Thank you everyone for the help! And why why why do they even sell the other non-cutout kind?

My BF used to use the Flite w/ cutout. He liked it a lot, except when he had to spend more time in the drops (racing), when he would experience numbness. He's switched to the Specialized Toupe, and says things have yet to fall asleep.

So if problems resume later on, maybe suggest he look into a Toupe next.

I'm glad it seems to be the saddle. Strange though, I don't seem to recall you reporting any discomfort. It is possible for diabetes and blood pressure issues to cause this too. Just worth looking into. Also there are some great herbs that can help, too.

I could not imagine anyone sitting comfortably on an Arione. But that's just me (even worse is the Aliante).
My SO started having numbness with the arione as well & switched to an SMP glider, and we're both very happy
