    Embarassing BO Issue

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I can NOT believe I'm posting this but I can't seem to figure it out:

Lately, I've been sweating very easily just being around the house, etc. I do not believe I've hit menopause yet as I'm only 41 but maybe perimeno???

Anyway, it's not the sweating that's bothering me, it's the BO I seem to have all of a sudden! I did change my deoderant to just a deoderant without aluminum and I use a crystal. I thought that might be it so I switched back to my old standby deoderant/antipersperant Degree but it didn't help.

Just doing stuff around the house my pits sweated a bit, while I was wearing my ibex long sleeve tshirt - and the pits stunk, even with the wool! I can't stand this and it is driving me nuts. Anyone have any suggestions?? Do I need to start taking chlorophyll tablets to offset whatever is going on with my metabolism?

I do have graves disease (hyperthyroid) but am in remission and on no meds. I get my labs checked next month but I don't expect any change. I just have suddenly started with my pits sweating easily and stinking. HELP!

Have you increased or changed your nutritional supplements lately?
Years ago I got on a kick of taking extra zinc tablets. After a few weeks of taking them I noticed I was getting weird underarm odor and sweating, also my tongue tasted funny.
I stopped the zinc and it all went away within a few days and never came back. Weird.

hey, this isn't embarrassing, not compared to some of the other stuff floating around here

I second that stress-sweat stinks much more than normal exercise sweat. I also notice that my menstrual cycle (I think) affects my sense of smell, I'm not sure when it is but in certain periods I can smell EVERYTHING, from the moldy rice at the back of the fridge to the dead orange at the very bottom of the waste bin, and also get very sensitive to my own smell. Other times I don't smell anything special.

I used to have the opposite problem. I was getting increasingly stinky pits. I switched to Lavilin (cream deodorant), then another kind of cream deodorant (and ever stinky pits!). After about a year I finally seem to have gotten rid of all the toxins built up over the years and am now wearing a crystal-based roll on with no stinkiness.

Anyways, that's neither here nor there for you. Since you're going for a dr. check up next month, I would mention this to your doc. Maybe it's to do with your thyroid afterall? Either way, I can certainly sympathise with the pit problem!

Any change in your diet (not necessarily big changes, just eating more of this and less of that) with the colder weather? I think a lot of people eat more meat and richer foods in winter. Dairy products in particular make me reek.

    All good thoughts!

I don't think it's stress or it would have showed up earlier. I'd lean toward the change in deoderants. I did do a body cleanse and it started after so I'm thinking maybe it is toxin related. No new nutrional suppliments or diet changes other than eating less junk food.

Unfortunately its only labs next month - no dr. visit. And I'm currently insuranceless until my new job benes kick in May 1st. So I'm trying to figure it out on my own.

Badger, where did you find the roll on crystal? I have the stick and it keeps breaking away.

I find that eating large protions of certain foods like asparagus, cabbage, or beets can make my urine have a strong odor- that doesn't bother me but I thought perhaps you had started eating a lot of fresh veggies of one kind or another? Just another possibility.
I use the crystal stuff in a little pump spray bottle.

Oh, and I use the crystal that comes as a lump without a holder, just a little tray. It breaks... when I drop it on the tile floor. I never had a crystal stick break though.

I've used this before, but it didn't really help me. But that was when I was still detoxing (or my system learning to sweat normally again?).

I can't find the particular kind I use, but it's crystal based with aloe and tea tree oil.

There are tons of different types of crystal deodorants out there!

Yes, perimenapause can make you sweat like a pig! I'm 40 and mine (and a couple of my GFs) all started about age 35 with the stuff.

Oh my, seems like the gawd awful sweating would kick in wearing the nicest silk blouse on the way to work. WITH the car windows rolled down in the middle of winter (coatless) to try and not have silk stinky sweat pits by the time I got to the office.

The high aluminum content is not good, but does work for not sweating. One of the sweating GFs told me about Certain Dri. It comes in a roll on and you use it at night. About every other night. DO NOT SHAVE. It will burn like a son of a bleep.

I don't use it anymore. I don't use any deorderant/antiper at all now. That part of things has calmed down. I still get the night time sweats. But, just kick the covers on and off etc.

Personally... I think stinking and using no deorderant at all works best for me. It's helped to simply my life...

Only those people who really really love me stay around long enough with the stink. Those who I want/need limited interaction with do the minimum (and run from the stink asap). But, I only get more wharped in my age. What do I know...

I also agree with lph... it's not too much to talk about at all for here. My first desperate "HELP ME" post was 'my saddle is giving me bleeding abrasions on my labia minora"... so, BO is cake, baby.

For me, Coffee makes my urine smell really strong (and strange). I find I have more BO if I eat more onion/garlic. I'm always very sensitive to smell - so usually I'm the only one who can smell it. For me, Al free deodorant doesn't work as well - but I don't want to chance it.

Miranda - you crack me up!

Lis - I was thinking about what I was eating and the only big changes are a decrease in carbs and a higher consumption of raw spinach and the basic veggies. More black beans, etc. A lot more green tea too.

I have noticed my urine smells different as well. Just a little stronger. I did get sick with strep throat last week so I'm still on penicillan but this started before that. I'll have to do some research on perimenopause and maybe check in with my sisters.

Thanks for you insight and the humor that came with it! I feel better now..
