I use Giant's carbon cages and I really like them . I have used fancier ones, but these are sturdy and easy to get in and out of. I have had the same set for over a year now, so they have tons of miles on them and they have not lost there hold and look new still. As long as you don't have the metal cheap cages, don't worry! Cages are sort of like bikes- there are a million different kinds and people are particular to their certain brand. The Trek person might like Bontrager, since it is what their shop probably sells,etc.
