I actually got butterflies when I saw this.
It's beautiful but it also looks like it weighs a ton.

Lovely, Zen. I have a similar love affair for Retrovelos, since discovering the smallest of the Omas is still too much for my stumpy legs to handle.

I'd like to try out the Maxi that Clever Cycles carries to see how intuitive shifting of the Schlumpf drive crankset is but I'm afraid I'll not be able to leave without purchasing anything. They also carry a pretty decent amount of wool clothing - mostly Ibex - from what I've heard. And since Dh has taken over my panniers, well, I'd just haaaaaave to replace those too.

ETA: I just noticed the skirt guard around the rear wheel of the Umberto. <panting>

Ever since Mimi posted this pic of a bike she saw in Italy, I've been lusting after bikes with skirt guards. Once when I was 12, I flipped over my handle bars when the skirt of my dress got caught in the rear wheel. I scraped up my face pretty bad. I'd totally wear a dress on a bike if I had a skirt guard.

    Chain guards, eh?

If you're lusting after chain guards, have I got the site for you!

Woody, the talented guy in Bend OR who makes those lovely wood fenders, makes beautiful wood chain guards as well.

    Enjoy.

Jobob, those are very nice. Thank-you for the site. I've seen his fenders before, but I didn't realize he made chain guards too. Now I just have to find myself a leather smith to get a skirt guard made.

Jobob - That's alright because I'm interested in getting one of those too. The wood ones you posted are way more reasonable in price than a custom metal one.
