Ways to celebrate New Year's Eve/Day

We had a snow storm yesterday as well as temperature dips into the single digits which cut down on a lot of people going out (me included). So it was me and the fur babies with a Chinese food delivery and the Twilight Zone marathon on tv.

Today it's still in the single digits (it's warmed up to 5F, woo hoo!) but sunny.
Took Chloe for her morning walk but I think her foot pads were starting to freeze (she began limping halfway into it) so we headed back for home. Might be an indoor day today as well.

Oakleaf - I do want to see the original. Sounds like it was a lot better from a review I read on the NY Times. Isn't that always the case? I have to say, though, that the preview for the new Star Trek looked pretty good....

Since 1999/2000 eve when all my partner's clan gathered together to see in the so-called millenium (although it was "officially" a year later, I have heard tell), I have gone to bed every NY eve and if I was still awake at midnight depended on how hot the night was (hehehe, or how frisky I was feeling).

However, this year (last year?) New Years Eve was spent with all my children home (2 have left home, 1 is about to leave home, and only 2 will be at school in 2009) watching silly movies, and then walking up our very big hill which at the top gives views of the central mountain ranges to the west (although not at night cause my night vision is not that great) and cities to the west and southwest.

I had made my grandmother's recipe choc-chip cookies, and we ate those at midnight as we watched the fireworks displays, and marvelled also at the way the night sky is at night time when you are fortunate enough to live in the country.

And for those of you who saw 2009 in snow... I had to take my sweat-shirt off, the night was that of a truly warm Summer

We were with friends last night and brought in the New Year in a hot tub with champagne. Today, after a bike ride, we'll watch the Penn State game and then DS25 will be over with his DGF for fillet mignon, potatoes and a salad.

We celebrated by riding our trainers 100 km today! 4:07:45. My legs are bagged....

We got a bunch of cheeses and pates and had a blast watching "That's Entertainment Pt. III". Nice way to spend New Year's Eve.

PS Cyd Charisse had the best legs on the face of the earth.

BF and I drove to Tenn to surprise my parents (they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary yesterday). Today is my birthday (47th) so I was able to spend the day with my parents, my oldest sister and her husband and my guy - what a great birthday. Lots of good food, laughter, and love - can't ask for a better birthday and start to 2009.
