    We once shipped about $250,000 worth of heavy equipment to India by ocean freight. They called it "short landed," in other words, the ship sank. Thank god for irrevocable letters of credit payable on presentation of shipping documents!

    I ship for my customers all the time. Once a box was opened by an unnamed shipping company employee who helped themself to a customized backpack. The box was then resealed and sent empty to my customer. Yes, they paid on the claim.

    Wowwwwww, what a great term to totally obscure the meaning. I can't say that I've ever been involved in a shipwreck and I'm absolutely sure I would haven never thought of "irrevocable letters of credit..." It appears you are a very clever person to know.
