I'll put my plug in for running. If you can do it (that is, your knees and hips and back can handle it), it is one of the best forms of exercise for weight loss and/or maintenance. The key is that you have to work up to some pretty substantial mileage to get the most benefit. I found that at about 25 miles/week, I could maintain. At 40+ miles/week I had a hard time eating enough to maintain.Originally Posted by trigurl
I don't run any more and really, really (really, really) miss it.When I ran I was able to maintain my weight about 5-10 lbs lower than now (now I fluctuate a lot) and not even think about it. The deal is that over a number of years my body changed drastically as did my metabolism and appetite. I ended up eating what I wanted when I wanted. Now I actually have to think about how much I eat and it makes me crazy. I still eat pretty much the same things, just less.
I hope to start running again when I complete my move to SLC. If you can run, do it! I'll run vicariously through you!![]()
