Thanks - I was starting to get that impression, It seems weird to me that you can't just carry the Edge along with you on a hike.
I have carried my Quest 2 with me on hikes - I have a dorky way to strap it to the top of my daypack. But it just tracks the distance and time, no HRM stuff at all.

Yeah, you could strap it on somehow. The Forerunner is designed to be worn like a watch (a big honkin' watch) and also has a bike mount option. Both the Edge and Forerunner have HRM options. The Edge is much more accurate with altitude (one of my pet peeves with the FR is how poor it is with altitude).

You should try elevation correction in SportTracks. It will make the FR much more consistent with the Edge (right or wrong, but at least more consistent).
