    Anyone Toured Ireland?

Am considering a tour in Ireland either this coming summer or the summer after and wonder if any one has had a good experience with a touring company that is not too expensive?

I did a tour in Ireland in 2003. It was planned by Tony Boyd of Iron Donkey, but I rode it solo and unsupported. He plans tours for people who want to ride solo and unsupported, plus he provides a baggage transfer service if you want to ride on your own but not carry your gear, plus he runs supported tours too. I can't tell you how the supported tours are, but I was happy with the planning he did for my trip.

My journal describing my trip can be read at denise2003ireland.crazyguyonabike.com.

I also did a self guided tour with Iron Donkey. I rode the Connemara region in Western Ireland... a wonderful experience... it is GREAT having that luggage transfer... especially since I went on to Scotland, France for the final day of last years Tour and then to England!

All I had to carry was some food, my camera and a pair of sneakers I could put on for walking thru ruins and sightseeing! Tony does a great job of it and is incredibly personable!

If you do go and need directions look for a mailman!!! They give the best directions should ya get turned around...
