    update on my niece Lorelei.

It has been rough but today we got great news! her blood tests show that her liver enzymes are lowering which means the coarse of treatment she is on is working. We are thrilled to no end about that! We are still trying to get the insulin shots right. WHat she has makes it hard for her body to accept it. double edge sword. The meds she takes for her liver cause he to be diebetic yet it also makes it hard for her body to take the insulin. I don't know? We are still happy!

Well the medication does make her very hungery,a bit restless sleeping and she semms to have to pee a lot. It is still hard to tell with a 3 year old. Is she cranky cause she is 3 or is she cranky cause of she has to go through. You know what I mean? She is gaining a bit of weight which is great!
But I have to say she is starting to be much more of a trooper then we thought. She has to have insulin shots now and have her sugar levels checked twice a day. She used to cry when they first started it. Now it's ok. I sent her some really fun band aids for her to choose from and that has made it more fun for her. She love's fun band aids.
I am just so happy we are on the right track at this point. And gratful that she is not going to die. Cause to be honest she was looking so thin and frail there and them not knowing what was wrong with her....... well it got a bit scary.
hey thanks gor your concern I really appreciate it! She is a dear little girl.

Brandi, the fun bandaids are a great idea. Ages ago, I used to pretty much deliberately get a little booboo at my great aunt's house, because she had BULLWINKLE bandaids!

I know you travel alot, check out Chinatown/asian markets for practically unlimited fun bandaids. (don't have time to read or post much these days, but I keep Lorelei in my prayers.) hugs from llb

Great news that Lorelei is doing better. She crosses my mind often. This has been quite a hard time for her and her family. I wish you all the best. It would be nice to get back your fun-loving, carefree niece after all of this.
