I can't STAND the taste of beer. I tried for years to find a brand of beer that I could tolerate without success. It's just so BITTER...even the "light" brands....even when ice cold. What on earth is it about beer that people like????

As to other alcoholic beverages, I feel about the same. Ethanol just tastes downright nasty. Unless you cover it with tomato juice....or lemon juice. I will tell you that I've been put under the table more than once throwing back bloody marys and Margaritas to quench my thirst and love for tomato juice or lime juice.

Okay, so the buzz was nice but the ethanol needs to be fully disguised.

Good dark stouts, great scotch, and deep red wine are some of the finest luxuries there are...I'm so very glad I get to enjoy them on occasion.

Picked up a nice Pinot Noir at the store today, for when my honey is feeling better.

I try to find movies or tv programs that feature sun/sand/beaches, and stay away from anything that's filmed at night or in snow or ice. Try watching Captain Ron.

Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

    Cute sweater!

On another topic, did anyone see the 2-hour MSNBC special on the Jonestown massacre 30 years ago? I DVR'd it and just watched...it was heartbreaking. I remember when it happened (I was in college) but I had never seen the video of the last hours. Very sad. I don't think I'll ever say the phrase "drink the Koolaid" in a joking way again.
