Thanks for the comments, especially Tuckervill! That's one way to look at it!
No, I didn't do it myself--I got it when we were living in Cali in the "wild 80s". Can't afford to have it removed and wearing sleeves is cheaper. Years ago, my mom saw it through a T-Shirt I had on, and I thought she was going to die! She didn't recognize the tail for what it was but just the thought of her "baby" having a tattoo was too much![]()
Aggie, I too am of the panty hose persuasion, but I am slowly giving up this dying tradition. I go from bare legged to tights, with only a short window of panty hose now. What I noticed is that here in the east, no one wears panty hose as soon as it's like in the 40s or 50s. I can't go bare legged at that temperature, and it's generally too warm for tights then. I only really wear hose on dress up occasions, though, as I have never had a job that required them. In AZ, everyone wore hose, even when it was 115 out.
I still wear a slip because I don't like my skirt sliding up my azz and clinging to my tights, especially in the winter!
It's funny you mention the slip helping keep the skirt from clinging to the tights--I find that the slip makes more cling happen. I only wear a slip if the skirt is see-through without it and so only wear one with a couple of skirts I have that are about mid-calf length and made of light cotton. When I wear one of those skirts with the slip, I get the WORST case of static cling ever when I walk!! The skirt clings to the slip and it all clings around my legs. Needless to say, now I spray it all down with Static Guard before I go out... As for the hose, I skip them--it's usually either warm enough to go bare legged and wear sandals or cool enough that tights are OK (depending on how warm the tights are), or with a longer skirt I'll wear knee-high socks if it's that "in between" temperature. Number one, pantyhose just feel icky IMHO, and number two they rip way too easily (well, that's partly my klutziness too). Plus I don't really see the purpose of them.

hmmm I must be weird... I like pantyhose... I think they make my legs look a whole lot nicer for one thing.., they also give your skirt something to slide over rather than sticking - as well as your feet in your shoes. I hate wearing shoes without anything on my feet. I think its really uncomfortable. I like having a little compression on my legs all day too. I am almost always cold though and this isn't a warm climate.. so hose don't really make me hot. I might think otherwise if it was often 90 around here.

Jolt, I use the static guard stuff, if I have to, but I went to a "real" lingerie store and bought a couple of slips that are of different materials and they work. I actually have a pair of what my mom used to call "petit pants." They are like shorts, but a slip. They are very short, so I can wear them with my shorter stuff.
I don't wear long skirts, so I can't do the knee sock thing. But, I couldn't do that anyway. I know, I'm weird. I used to wear knee socks and short skirts as a kid, but I think I'm too old for that.
I usually only wear black hose now, or grey and they don't look that different than tights. Most of my skirts are black or very dark. But, I think I mostly wear tights, too.
I had a regret tattoo. When I was 27, I was determined to overcome obstacles and become a veterinarian. So I had a veterinary insignia tattooed on me. I figured if I become one, I earned it, and if not, then it would forever remind me of my failures. Well, I decided I couldn't afford the time nor the expenses of going through 10 more years of schools so I had to abandon that dream.
I couldn't live with it, so I had a hummingbird tattooed over it. It covered it up nicely.
One thing I did make sure was to get it where nobody but my partner could see it (right about where my left ovary is). And it's a bit corny, but it ended up that the hummingbird looks like it's flying into its nest (my ahem, pubic area)...
I like the way they feel too. I used to work at a lingere store, we got hosiery for free since they were required. I got to try a lot of pairs and know which ones I like. Not trying a lot of pairs and finding a good fit is my theory on why many women hate them. I find compression keep your legs feeling good all day, silky are nice but compression makes my legs happy. And I am always cold so hose make it bearable to wear a skirt. At least I know I am not alone. Most women my age loath panty hose though but I am have always been a bit different.![]()
