We got a very small carrier and I carried it/her on my lap so I could keep an eye on her. Does anyone travel with a cat much? I'm hopefulo that she'll become quieter. A friend of mine trained her cat to be a very good traveler, but she started with a kitten. My girl is "about five" the Humane Society thought.
I've moved cross country a few times with the kitties, and have hauled them away (~5 hrs) for hurricane evacuations. They are all pretty vocal for the first 1/2 hr or so. On long hauls, or if I preplan for the drive to my Aunt's - I've found books-on-tape are wonderful. For some reason the narration keeps the kitties calm, and it keeps me alert. When the tape/CD stops, time for a change, my most vocal cat, Bonnie, immediately starts complaining, but as soon as the narration starts again, she quiets down. So you might try Books-on-tape at your local library, and some truck stops.
