Yuck! You would think that cyclists would know better, wouldn't you? Maybe you could start an awareness campaign.

Okay just a little rant. What is with the freaking entitled people who think they can go out on a trail and throw their trash out?! Yesterday DH and I went mountain biking at a private ranch that offers mountain biking. The 9 mile loop was littered with gel wrappers and a couple of water bottles. We both noticed and were appalled by it. In hindsight I wish I had picked every one of them up and if I had done a second loop I would have.
What on earth makes people think they can throw that out? Is it some kind of mentality "oh my one wrapper won't be a big deal"? I would say 99% of the riders I saw out yesterday had jerseys with back pockets on and you can just as easily stash your trash in there. Heck if a little gel gets in there it is okay it will wash out. I see this at my normal trail I ride as well. Even worse DH rode this same trail last Saturday and said it was clean but yesterday it was very crowded out there. It is disgusting, those people need a good whipping for being classless fools.

Terrible!! People have no class!
BTW, What did you think of RHR??
Yeah DH was complaining about "snotty racers pre riding". LOL.
I liked it, I was a little sore yesterday but overall rode quite a bit of it. I didn't make any of the real climbs. That loose rock stuff is just a little too much for me still. I have the same issues at Muleshoe.I am never very good on the first time out on a trail but I thought I did alright. The Grind and the Wall scared the snot out of me! I just walked those. Are you racing?

That sounds like a good way to get all mtb'ers kicked off private property.![]()

Yea... that is exactly what I was thinking. A handful of fools screw it up for EVERYBODY. That part really sux. One thing I love about trail riding is being out in Mother Nature's beauty. That's the last thing you want to see is it diseased by mankind. We are her guests, and should behave as such!
Those people should just ride on trainers in their basements where they can throw their trash all around them on the floor to their heart's content and no one else will have to look at their garbage.
Disgusting, and so selfish, lazy, and non-caring. What's WRONG with people???

Exactly. This is one of the nicest places I have been to ride. Quiet, serene and they cater to mountain biking. Sure you can go hike there but they have bike helmets on the fence posts, you know who they really expect to pay to use the land. And it is only $8 a day which is a bargain in entertainment for me. How long will the owners want to pick up trash?
People are just lazy and thoughtless. Respect the property, respect the beauty of nature, respect the cows and critters who let us play on their ranch.![]()

Same dang fools that think flicking a cigarette butt is OK. Some parts of the country that's all it takes to start a huge range fire.
As a former Parkie, don't even get me started on litter.... grrrrrrrr
And yes, if you're riding/hiking on private land, that's one sure fire way to get the privilege revolked.

Right on! I think your DH is right about who is doing it, too. Snots!
**Thread-jack ahead**
Y'know, I decided to not do the race. Everything y'all said was dead-on, and what I wanted to hear... but I guess I have confidence issues. I just couldn't start the race being new to racing and knowing that The Wall and The Grind were at the end of that race and I would HAVE to walk them... let alone what would happen on Fat Chucks or whatever that bad first climb was. I would rather my first race be something I at least knew I could do all of (on a good day), KWIM?
You are right, The Wall and Grind... scared the snot out of me. Just like the Wall at WC, but about 3x higher. I think I better be able to do the WC Wall without blinking before I even attempt those two. YIKES!
Yep, we have this same issue at races down here. In the pre race briefing, the rd does mention to throw yer packets etc in your back pocket. It applies to the little folks up to the BIG guns.
You can wash your clothes after..& it's not a huge deal if you get a sticky pocket from yer GU etc
Completely understand, RHR surprised me on how hard it could be without really being technical at all.
Try Warda in the spring if you can and want to race. I have not ridden it yet but DH really wants me to go out to Warda to really boost my confidence. He thinks it is an excellent beginner's race course and I might even be ready for it.
He thinks RHR is hard for a race just because of the rocky climbs. You are ready to race but DH is even worried about RHR and how to pace himself so he is ready for the Wall and not blown up!

I think littering qualifies as an anti-social behavior. It's one of my pet peeves. I am super careful about my own trash (I carry a plastic ziploc baggy in my seatbag when I ride) and I pick other people's litter up if it is not too gross (once I happened upon a used condom right in the middle of the bike path! Who does that! But that was one thing I wasn't going to pick up).
