    Photos of today's ride

These photos are from the west side bike path in Manhattan. The trees were lovely today. Lots of oak and sweet gum, and plenty of people enjoying them with me.

The last two photos aren't very good, but I wanted to share them anyway. We've all seen roadside memorials, but this is the first time I've seen one for an accident that must have happened very recently. The sign reads "RIP Aniel" and a single candle burns at the base.

The people you see in the photo were walking around as if they were looking for something. The scene was raw and intense and very sad. I wanted to go and speak with them, but it would have been impossible, and probably intrusive.

Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing. The roadside memorial photos were touching and very much remind me of the bike wreck. There was such an intense draw to the scene. As if we could somehow gather some sense of what happened by being there.
