How long is your commute?

4.5 miles to work, 4 miles home bike or car. 20 minutes to work, 30 to home.

28 miles home by bike, the reason I have my husband drop me at work. 20 miles by car. 30 minutes by car, nearly 2 hours by bike. I have been toying with selling my commuter and just carpooling. DH loves bike commuting, for me it is hard work. I am tired when I get home, don't want to cook and I usually only have a couple hours before bed. Basically my whol day was work or riding home from work. The ride home is hilly and often in a headwind. I wouldn't mind just riding my Cannondale on sometimes and carrying a back pack. Having trouble justifying the $$$ I spent on the commuter.

My commute is long like yours, and I know the feeling about it being long and being tired at the end of it. This is why I only do the full commute only once or twice a week, and do a hybrid commute the other days. Burn-out comes easy at 60 miles a day.

Your commuter may not be the best bike for that commute. I find my road bike works better for the long commute - my Jamis Boca with saddlebags works better for the hybrid commute.

24.5km to work... between 42mins (with a tail wind) to 54mins. Alot of downhill, work is at sea-level

24.5km home seems much longer... at least 65mins, sometimes when I'm tired and with a head wind, 85mins.

If T travel by car its 25mins each way.

We have a fairly short commute in of 4.5 miles in under 20 minutes. We make the ride home longer and include a loop in the park, 8 miles in 30-35 minutes. Faster average speed on the trip home with fewer lights and stoppage. The ride home depends on the wind and my energy level at the end of the day.

Just under 10 miles each way. It takes me about 40 minutes of pedaling, 50+ minutes overall.

By Bike: 8 - 10 miles round trip. It takes me about 30 min to get to work.

I do not drive. Take public transportation. I try to ride to work 2-3x week.

I have this issue, too. When my life is jam-packed full of things to get done, it's really hard for me to justify 3 hours on the bike each day. I'm torn between feeling guilty for riding and feeling guilty for not riding!

Yeah, right now I feel like commuting is an extension of my job. It makes riding not fun. Doesn't help that I don't like my commuter saddle and can't get the POS off. I am waiting impatiently on DH to change it. But really, I just think it is a bit much.

I have been thinking I should sell the commuter but I will hold off. Two weeks now though without commuting. Actually two weeks without riding at all.

I'm such a weenie! My commute is only 2.5 miles to work (13 minutes), and 3.25 coming home (21 minutes).

Mine is a wimpy mile each way But I love riding my bike and wouldn't give it up for anything I also ride it to the farmer's market, the small co-op store and several other places!

I moved this past summer and when I lived there, it was approximately three miles each way

I will say that longer distances are more daunting when I am feeling a bit under the weather or when I feel I may be coming down with something (especially after a long day)

I have a 3, 3.5 mile commute and it takes me about 20 minutes. It's pretty straight, and there's only a bit of uphill. It's harder to bike nwo though because it's getting pretty cold!
