A great and easy apple dessert is baked crock pot apples.

Take 4 goodb baking apples (I like the Courtland), peel about half way down and core the apples. Place them in the crockpot.

Now if you don't mind a little extra sugar and sweetness you can stuff a couple of caramels in the cored center then top with a little bit of brown sugar and a dab of butter. You can also sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg too. Add about 1/2 cup of water or apple juice and bake on low for 2-3 hours.

Instead of the caramels you can also alternate brown sugar and butter to fill up the cored area. As it cooks the sugar and butter melt down and form a nice sauce in the bottom of the crockpot that you can spoon over the cooked apples. Yummy!!

I prefer sliced apples to eating them like a horse. I got an apple slicer that is so handy! It looks like a metal pie chart with a circle in the center. You push it down on the apple, and you have perfect apple slices and no core!

I think there's something to the saying that an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

We used to have a "pick your own" orchard adjacent to our subdivision...alas, it's now a subdivision

Tulip, I'm with you on the slicer. Right now, I'm slicing one huge gala each morning and taking to work for my mid morning snack. That really HITS THE SPOT!

    Tonight's Meal:
    - One pound of broccoli and carrots
    - Some peanuts (for protein)
    - A chilled gala apple for dessert
If you don't grow where you're planted, you'll never BLOOM - Will Rogers
