Where do you live? Rhode Island

Explanation of your handle: 311 is the name of my favorite band and while I'm riding I usually have there songs running through my head.

Explanation of your avatar: Don't have one yet

    Age (general or specific) 23

    Occupation: Coffee Girl

Favorite bike: I have a picture cut out of a newspaper of a $5,000 dollar red Grandis road bike. It is simply beautiful.

What's in your stable? I don't have a stable but in my basement I have a blue mongoose manuever mountain bike that I got this past february for my birthday. Her name is Sylvia.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I do not have a road bike, yet, but on my moutain bike, last month I think, I reached 28.9 mph riding down an almost flat road, it was ever so slighty downhill.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I'm not very photogenic.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I'm a terrible liar and even if I were a good liar I still wouldn't do it because its not very moral.

Most memorable moment on my bike: I have an older brother who has Always been very althletic- running the boston marathon, semi professional kick boxing, everything. Well, this summer I invited him along on a few rides and they have all been very memorable due to the fact that I have finally found something that I am better at then him! It's a great motivation to keep myself fit.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Basically everytime I have to stop and wait for my brother to catch up I become estatic with joy when I realize that I haven't even touched on being tired yet.

welcome to the board michele: I need to figure out how to edit that line - fastest spd on a road bike is Very unfair to the MTB'ers on the board! and as my Aussies friends say :goodonya about waiting for your brother to catch up!!..........you need the "passed by a girl" jersey!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Trek going dangerously close to OT

So does the bike say "is that a multi tool in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

What's in your stable? Specialized Hardrock Ultra

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when?
I don't have a roadbike, but on my hybrid: 35mph downhill, Mummy Mountain, clinging as close to the bike as I could.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Here's the Tank:

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I'm with michelle here. I have lied before, but I don't want to, and I try not to.

Most memorable moment on my bike: most memorable - sliding on gravel and tearing up my knee and panicing about how long I'd be stuck off it. I have pictures, but I'm sure you don't want to see ;-). oh! I know! the major storm I got stuck in 2 years ago. I was riding for fun south, downhill, and with a tailwind, enjoying myself. I then realized that ... the wind was not a good one, it was a dust storm rolling in! I was about 10 miles from home, and I turned around and started up what I thought would be the safest route, against the dust storm, which quickly turned into a major monsoon storm. it was only 2 miles wide (on either side of me), but it was long! I ended up having to hole out in a store, as I couldn't see in front of my face. It passed in 30 minutes and I was on my way, a little soggier :-D.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Keeping up with the fast group on Saturday mornings. riding roads I remember struggling on, and going several miles faster, with little effort!

Where do you live? Pittsburgh, PA

Explanation of your handle: My initials. Creative old bugger, ain't I?

Explanation of your avatar: Sheesh! I don't know what would embody me.

    Age (general or specific) 45

    Occupation: Electrical engineer

Favorite bike: Seven Ti Axiom.......beautiful craftsmanship!

What's in your stable? Trek 5200 (old), LeMond WSD Zurich that may get hacked and coupled for a travel bike, Seven Ti Axiom, Specialized Stumpjumper Comp. And may I mention a Honda Shadow 1100? I love anything with two wheels!

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I'd hit 34 mph in sprints with the guys around Lake Charles, LA in the 90's. This year with them, I could only hit 31 mph. Downhill at Seven Springs Ski Resort I hit 56+ mph last year. I've tried to top it but no go with conditions, head winds and traffic. I haven't topped the mountain at Seven Springs this year.

Another picture of yourself or your ride?

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: To Mother when I was 10ish, "Yes ma'am, I practiced the piano." After that spanking, I'd learned that lesson.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Finishing the Tour de Strongland last year after a nasty crash early in the race. Road rash and blood on the left side of my body didn't prevent me from finishing the race. A few miles after the crash, pain set in, sweat was stinging the open flesh. Besides my friends helping me clean up, the most memorable aspect of that race was a fella' telling me he was having a bad day on the bike as I passed him for the second time. He commented on the crash, which he'd seen. I told him I was having a great day on the bike.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Screaming descents plus so many other rides and people. It's hard to not have fun on every ride.

Ditto that! My Triumph Bonneville is acting a bit jealous of the new Trek that's hanging nearby.

Most memorable moment on my bike: I’ve stopped to see a shuttle launch mid-ride in Florida. But the best moments are when I’m riding like a well-oiled machine in a pace line thinking I could pedal all day.

Most memorable moment on the bike: My first ride when I realized the freeing sense of "self". On the bike I'm none of those things I mentioned in the occupation section of this thread. My lungs are working, my legs are pumping, the sweat is dripping...all for me and because of me. It's that portion of the day when I can be selfish. My family would tell you that we are all the better because of it.

    Age (general or specific) 50

    Occupation: Management Consultant

Favorite bike: One that is fast and fits me

What's in your stable? Rans Tailwind (01) and Centurion 10 speed that is 25 years old! I did all my touring on it and still love it.

Fastest speed on a road bike? Haven't clocked it yet but coming down the hills around here I'm guessing 35 or so.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Not yet

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Lots of trouble lying except that I'm not really 50 (ha ha)

Most memorable moment on my bike: The week end trip (see Adventure Stories Discussion Group) from hell.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Went on a 6 day tour that was arranged by an outfit called "Woodswomen" with 9 other women none of whom knew each other. We road about 60 miles a day and camped/cooked out the whole time. Until the last day none of us even knew what we all did for a living because it wasn't relevant. It was a total adventure and the playing field was level. All we knew was each others names because that was all we remembered. I stayed friends with one of the women for a long time.

Most embarrassing moment on my bike: Falling off into a briar patch on day 2 of owning the bike.

Most fun ever had on a bike? What ever my most recent ride was
