    Harvest Century

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I am seriously considering doing the Harvest Century. My hubby is going to Montana to do some hunting with his brother the week of the ride. But I may go and do the ride myself or my daughter and her boyfriend may join me too.

Anyway, if anyone else here in TE will be doing that ride would you like to meet? If I go I want to do the 75 mile course (maybe the 100 mile route . . . depends on how much riding I get in between then and now).

I will know for sure the end of September.

    Tailwinds!

    Hi Sue,

I may do the ride depending on my work schedule. I looked at the web site and didn't see a course description. Any idea what the course is like (flat, hilly, etc.)?

Tempting! If my husband is not on call we might come down. It's Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, enabling us to drive down Saturday and back up on the Monday. But we'll have to wait and see.

Here is a link to the description of the routes:
    http://www.harvestcentury.org/routes.html

from the home page, click on event info; on that page, there is a box near the top that says: Routes Families Champoeg Park Training Driving Directions Gear. Click on "routes"

Interesting that the shortest route (42 miles) is said to be the most difficult?

Not sure if we'll be doing this ride or not. Too far away to tell. Will put it on the calendar and see what happens :-)

Yea, I really want to do it too. But like I said I won't know for sure until mid or end September. I am so tempted to just sign up and go for it. But I'll wait.

Hey the course is marked with the signature Harvest Century Jack-O-Henry’s ! How cool! And the leaves will definitely be in their glory . . . . all colorfully dressed out in their fall colors! Maybe the last beautiful ride before old man winter arrives! Aarggh!

I'll most likely be there and riding the 100 mile course.

    century

Very tempting...... I've done it the last 2 years ,and last year I did the 100. It was a struggle. The only thing is the weather? We lucked out last year ,and I only got rained on the last 6 miles. I did have fun though. It was my first Century ,and I did it by myself. I met people along the way. The course has some pretty big hills ,but it is really pretty with the changing of the leaves. Im not very fast. ; ((

We may be interested. It depends on how much riding we can get in this month - hard to say as it's been very inconsistant for us this year.

If I can't ride it, I will commit to standing in my driveway and cheering on the 75-mile and century riders as you pass by us! I'll even hold up a TE sign and take photos - if anyone wants.

(We see those pumpkin route markers on our rides all the time - I was wondering what ride they were for!!)

If I'm up to it I am going to ride the 75 mile route. I'll look for the TE sign if I do ride the 75 miler! I'll know for sure the closer we get to the date.

And I can't wait to see the pumpkin markers!

I'm excited! I leave on Saturday! I'm staying in Lake Oswego, OR . . . My hubby can't make it but a co-worker, Jennifer, is going to do the 75 mile ride with me!

Jennifer and two other teachers from my school are going down on Friday for a conference. Jennifer, Cheryl, and Hillery will meet me Saturday afternoon at my hotel in Lake Oswego after they checkout of their hotel in Portland. We are going to have a girls night out . . dinner at a Greek restaurant with belly dancers?!!! lol and hopefully Jennn and I will get some rest for our ride on Sunday!

Weather . . . sunny and high of 63!!!! I'm really stoked for this ride! Course is marked with pumpkins! How perfectly autumn-ish.

Sue - how was the ride?

We were out painting our house all day and saw the riders going by from about 11 am until about 4 pm! We were sorry we had to miss out, but a clear fall day and a naked house made painting our top priority!

    You certainly had wonderful weather!

I'm so sad we couldn't go. My partner was on call all weekend. (This is Canadian Thanksgiving.)

Hope you had a great time!
