    I believe that "serial numbers" are the reason none of our bikes were stolen when our house was burglarized. My car was stolen, and a bunch of other stuff, but all of our bikes were safe and secure in the garage that had obviously been rampaged. They also didn't take our Taylor guitars or dh's nice keyboard. The police said all that stuff is too easy to trace.

    On a side note, when my friend crashed on her bike and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, the police got the serial number off of her bike before we hauled it away. I found that interesting.
