Just the usual Saturday club ride... with the usual nice October weather:
41F when we started out... 79F by the time we got back from 72 miles plus brunch.
(The usual not-nice October weather is rainy, cloudy, and 45F the whole time. It's been terribly dry, so we really need rain to replenish the aquifers and surface water, but at this point we need it to stay dry so the farmers can finish getting the harvest in. For cycling... I'll take the sunshine
)
Amazingly my choice of clothing held up. LS synthetic jersey over SS smartwool baselayer, ancient thin Lycra tights over shorts, light FF gloves, wool socks and toe covers. My fingers and toes got most of their feeling back within an hour of starting out, and although I was slightly warm by the end, it wasn't really uncomfortable, and the only thing I took off was my toe covers (plus opened my jersey zipper).
I just wish I'd brought the little disposable camera I bought for the Lone Star Ride. I have 9 exposures left on it and I just hate to waste the processing chemicals on unexposed film, but I keep forgetting to bring it on rides. There was a sign on the street across from where we ate, that said:
"Car Show & Noodles 11-4"
And of course the wonderful fall scenery.
Marcie... that's incredible! I love following your love of riding!
