    Hello you lovely women!

I don't even know if you would remember me or not, but so many of you gave me such wonderful advice and support about biking & weightloss I just wanted to say thanks - and that I most certainly did not just drop off the planet...

we had to evacuate because of Hurricane Ike. The family in Dallas that we stayed with didn't have an internet connection so it was ridiculously frustrating. They were crazy nice to let us stay there for almost two weeks but wow... how do you not have an internet connection in this age?

Anyway. Just wanted to say I'm back! I shall be active soon. We're still surveying the damage and stuff. There's a giant hole in our roof because a tree fell on our house -and we have skylights. Not a good combination!

I can't believe I was only able to get one biking day in before the hurricane hit!

Oh well - at least the mornings are cooler now :-) so it's a great time to restart.

Wow, that is no doubt devastating to you but you seem to have a good attitude.
Just remember, things are just that, things. As long as everyone is safe and healthy that's what matters.
Good to have you back, Earthgirl.

Good luck with the rebuild - make sure your roofers are licensed, and welcome to membership in the "blue roof" club. Took me 6 months to get my house reroofed after Katrina. I told my roofers that I just wanted a new roof before the next hurricane season, and they said that was a promise they could keep. But I didn't have a hole in my roof either.

I can certainly understand the joy of bike riding, especially while being evacuated. It's something "normal," occupies your mind, and it's FUN! I spent 3 weeks away from home after Katrina, and wound up buying a bicycle from a LBS in the nearby town. Helped keep my sanity.

Hang in there for the rebuild. Let's hope we're finished with hurricane season.

Glad you're back and even more glad that you're okay. I lived with relatives for 3 months who didn't have a tv. It was during that time that 9/11 happened. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to find out, via phone, what had happened and not be able to SEE it with my own eyes. We got in the car and drove an hour to my sister's house to watch the news.

My husband did set up his computer, but I can't remember what the deal was with the internet. Must have been dial up or something. I know I didn't get to spend much time on it, so I can relate to that too!
