If you've been riding 20 miles six days a week, you will not have any trouble whatsoever riding 31, no matter what you do next week. I would definitely either take Saturday off or just do a super light spinning day to keep your legs warmed up.

Then you might want to take the following week real easy. It's good to have a rest week about every four weeks, to keep yourself from over training. Your body does need rest in order to improve.

By the way, I just bought a book that you might really like. It's called Every Woman's guide to Cycling. Here's the Amazon link. http://www.amazon.com/Every-Womans-G.../dp/0451223047

It's got a lot of good info in it. I think I'll start a thread about it.

Good luck on your 50k! I bet you'll do great.

Thanks for all the great advice and for the link to that book! I will definately have to get it! I just picked up Cycling Past 50 and How To Ride To A Century (oops, not sure of that title - I will correct this response when I get home and check the name). I will let you know how I do on my 50k on Sunday - the weather here is perfect for cycling - around 82 during the day and around 70 at night. And no humidity through the weekend - yay!!
