    Is it just me or....

do you feel super sexy when you get on your bike. I have some extra "fluff" on my body, that most of the time I am really self concious about. I have some serious body issues, but for some reason that all goes away on my bike. I don't get it, I'm wearing skin tight clothing, and pretty short shorts (I usually wear guys Dickies shorts) but I feel powerful and comfortable and above all, sexy. Is this a normal phenomenon? It's crazy, but the best feeling ever!!!

My DH thinks I look sexy on my bike - he keeps taking pictures of me on the trail. All I know is that I feel confident and strong when riding and eventhough I still have quite a bit of weight to lose to reach my goal I feel great! My legs are shaping up real nice and it is a good feeling to feel the strength in them when I sprint. When we first started riding in August I could barely do 7 miles at 8.5 mph. This week alone I have ridden over 60 miles averaging 12.5 - 14 mph with some faster sprints, and that is not counting the weekend! MS150 here I come!!

DH has promised me a whole new cycling outfit just for the MS150 - I should be close to goal weight by then and I can’t wait to shop for that outfit!! I will be asking you all for ideas when I get closer to that shopping spree!

Oh, what a great query. I think I know what you mean, even though I'm huffing and puffing and occasionally clumsy. Who knows how I'll feel when I get some strength built up.

Seriously, I feel so rejuvenated biking. I'm 57 and I don't worry about age or feel old, but...biking makes me feel like I remember feeling in my twenties and thirties. While I wouldn't have chosen the words "super sexy" I think I know what you mean.

Interesting. Admittedly I do feel abit sexier on the bike. when it is warmer weather, I do wear shorter cycling shorts... not just 2 inches above my knees.

In a high vi pearl izumi slim jacket that does look...good on me.yea,...as long as my cycling form while moving along on bike..

Now tonight, I asked my partner if I looked sexier on bike..it never occurred to him to see me that way while I'm on bike. He did say I dress better (meaning cycling clothing), therefore look better when I'm on bike... ok....whatever.

He doesn't want the clothing, any clothing..ok..to be convinced...

So pretty pointless for me to rely on external opinions on sexiness on bike.

Who cares. On a good cycling day, I do feel abit sexier. And no, his attitude has stopped me from ...enjoying the pleasure of cycling.

    As an off-topic:
Yesterday..I just realized that there are MANY women who just have never worn anything remotely athletic/near athletic casual clothing except for running shoes. I was talking to an employee who works in my department and mentioned a local popular sporting goods store chain (Mountain Equipment Co-op). She had never heard of it ...even though she's born, raised and lived in Greater Vancouver area for 49 years of her life. She has 2 grown sons..where I thought by now, she would have heard remotely about this store via them. But, no. She is overweight by 30-40 lbs., which I suspect makes her choose to wear polyester slacks, floral tops, black/dark tops, etc. that seriously make her look like slight housewifey dumpy... We work in a construction site and most women in our organization have at some point worn jeans, casual cotton chino pants, etc. with a nice casual top. Not all the time, but sometimes...regardless of their shape /body weight.

I think EVERYONE, fat or thin, young or old.... is automatically sexier when they are on a bike.

After all, you are wrapping your body around a beautiful gleaming oiled moving machine powered by muscle!- what's not sexy about that??

It's not just cycling...any activity. Even trim folks look bad if they don't have muscle tone...and any regular exercise creates tone, and a better confidence and self perception...that is evident to everyone.

For the record: Silver's rhomboids 'dance' when she rides in the drops. It's crazy sexy (and hypnotizing) when drafting!

    YES!

I feel very sexy on my bike. I feel strong and fast. I am one of those people for whom speed is an aphrodisiac .

I can be feeling kind of badly about myself (yeah, I get down on myself sometimes), and if I go out for a ride I suddenly feel strong and confident and in control.

    TMI.

And my bike clothes are much nicer and much more put together than my clothes in real life. Generally more expensive too .

DH sure thinks I'm sexy on the bike. It's the only time he calls me "hot". And he does not like it when I bike with other guys--but meeting them for lunch or dinner is okay?!?
