I will get a picture out here soon. First I have to load the camera software on this new computer, dump some of the pictures from the camera to the pc because the camera's memory card is so full it won't take another picture... and then I can take her picture.

She's a brown tabby/tortoiseshell, kind of tiny, with odd dots, stripes, and blotches all over. A very good girl. When I tell her "Kitties don't do that." She makes a mental not to do that thing when I'm looking.

I have always felt that cats choose us, not the other way around. Sounds like she did just that and I am so glad that you have a new kitty to love! We lost our precious cat Majic this past year - she was 15. We have our other cat Indy - he is 14 and a sweet boy. I wish you many happy years with your new kitty and glad that she is giving you such joy!! Post pics soon!

Man, my kitty needs to take notes! Just last night she broke a tent pole in our $200 tent that was set up in our living room drying out. Luckily it will just take a few bucks to repair, but no matter how many times I tried to explain to her that kitties aren't supposed to break expensive things (like the time I tried to explain that to her after she chewed through the cord pull on our new wood blinds), she just looks at me and meows innocently.

    Gah.

Anyway, happy to hear of your new addition!

You know you have to name her "Murt" now, don't you?

Good for you, adopting an older cat. Can't wait to see some pics!

I love how we have decided the cat's name will be Murt. It is actually a pretty fun name if you want my opinion, which you probably don't.

I wanted to name one of my cats after a dog in this Laurel and Hardy film but I misheard the correct name, so that cat became known as Lappin Gravy.

My cat was just three weeks old when we found him abandoned at work - my co-workers thought he was a she, but because he was so young it was hard for my vet to determine gender right away. We found out that his mom had been adopted by someone on dayshift and they did not know she had more kittens and that the litter had been born on July 4th. So I named what I thought was a girl kitty Little Miss Independence. After a few weeks my vet said I might want to reconsider the Little Miss part of his name and that he was indeed a boy kitty. So we shortened his name to Indy. Most folks assume we named him after Nascar or Indiana Jones.

Thanks Zen for the idea, and everyone who seconded, Murt is her name! We had tried out several names, but nothing seemed to fit. She's so lavish with all those kitty-words, Murt - or Mrrt - makes purrfect sense.

I'll get a picture uploaded tomorrow night. That will force me to do some computer housekeeping I've been procrastinating.

I do still tear up when I think of losing my dear old Tuffy (Who like Wildhawk's cat knew her name by the time we discovered he was really a she), but it's lovely and healing to have a kitty in the house again.
