    Sept 24th rides

On my ride today, I saw 6 other female road cyclists. Kind of a big deal since it was a weekday, and there weren't very many riders out at all (not many men, anyway). I've been seeing more and more women riding in my area. So cool!

Also this morning, I saw a college aged woman riding a commuter, while BRUSHING HER HAIR! Yeah, she obviously wasn't wearing a helmet. What's next, mascara?

45 sunny but chilly miles, with lots of wind. I love fall!

I finally took Miranda, my poor neglected Cannondale out for a spin. Since I signed up for the Rip Roarin' Ride this weekend I felt like we should get back on a first name basis. Man I forgot how wonderful of a bike she is. I have been riding my mountain bike and my commuter for the past month while Miranda sat lonely in the dining room. The mountain bike fits alright but it is a mountain bike. The commuter is a just "good enough" fit. But Miranda, she is perfectly dialed in on fit and snappy. Funny thing is after riding the commuter the bike feels tiny and shocks me at the handling. But the get up and go, I had forgotten how stiff the bike is, I hammered along the rolling hills and scoffed at the head wind. Oh how I love my little Cannondale.

15.58 glorious miles on the "Dog Ride" loop and I fell back in love.

The way the wind tangles my long hair, I must ask what the point is? Working on bike handling? OCD?

Out and back on the chicago lakefront trail. 30 beautiful miles. Some headwinds on the way down, a fast ride back with the tailwinds. Sunny with no sign yet that summer is over (except for the shorter days . . . )

I had a wonderful ride...36 miles, fun downhills, not-so-fun uphills, perfect weather, beautiful scenery. I felt really good and strong today and just really enjoyed the whole ride.

So we have this thing around here called Apple Hill. It's a bunch of apple orchards and ranches throughout the area that sell fruit and baked goods and also have crafts, pony rides, etc. It's become quite the tourist attraction and on weekends, the traffic on our poor little country roads is just horrific. And pretty much my entire local riding route goes right through the whole thing, so it kind of wrecks my normal weekend riding routine. IMHO, it would be a death wish to ride in this area on Apple Hill weekends. So it made me appreciate my ride today even more since I will have to go find someplace else to ride this weekend.

A quick 30k ride, after work. By the time I got back to the car, it was dusk.
Saw about 15 riders out this evening.

I can never ride during the week... so I run.

I ran 8 miles tonight... in the woods... with the boyfriend and my sis... I love it, so fun

I'm going to invest in some trail running shoes... since we've been doing lots of trail running

Biked 62 km today - simply a gorgeous day. That sounds like a lot - in miles I think it works out to about 37-38.

I did my commute today, in to the bus alone, home from the bus with my daughter. Although it takes twice as long in company with my incredibly amazing kid, it is wonderful to have a "stop and smell the roses" ride occasionally. Watching her adjust her gears and flick her pedals is just priceless. Plus, she freaking hammers up the hills. I keep telling her she needs a road bike but she doesn't want one. Ah well. At least she's riding!
I can do five more miles.
