    Several topic post!

I havent seen a daily ride thread from the weekend and I so wanted to brag, I mean, report.

Saturday I was going to try and do a 35m group ride I had heard about but I went to the site and couldnt find anyone No worries, I went home and rode 43 miles. I realized I went out a little strong so I backed off at about 15 miles. I was delighted to find that I actually felt stronger the more I went! The last few miles home I was cruising at 20+mph. Overall averaged 18.6mph and the only soreness was my lower back and it was gone the next day.

Sunday I set out on my scenic loop but was distracted by a random clicking noise that was driving me nuts! I went to stop in a driveway and for some reason, even though I unclicked my left cleat, I was leaning right and couldnt get my right foot out in time.

I am proud to say that I have had my first fall and case of road rash!! And of course, there were witnesses!! Mind you I NEVER SEE other cyclists but the first time I wreck there are TWO!! I dusted off my bike and my pride and continued on to do 24 miles averaging 18.5mph.

Monday went to LBS group ride and due to the weather only the die hards came. I was the only girl and this was the A group. Well, I did well up until some big rolling hills and I felt like I left my climbing strength at home. Guy behind me asks me if my back tire feels slow and low and behold I have a flat. Flat fixed and feeling much better we finished the 28 miles averaging 21.8mph. I think the guys were pretty impressed- I know I was!

In the last 3 days I rode 95 miles. I just hope I can do that plus 5 more in one day next month!

Then I left my bike at the shop because we were not able to figure out the clicking noise which definitely is coming from the seat. The more I spin (and therefore bounce) the more it clicks. Removing the seat stay and saddle and lubbing things did not help so they had me leave it after the ride. I feel like I went home without my child! Anyway, anyone have any thoughts about the clicking?

Not sure about the clicking noise, but just wanted to post and tell you how proud I am of all those miles you logged!! I thought I was something because I have logged 129 miles since Sept. 2. Here you are doing practically that in one weekend! Awesome!! DH has started his new 3rd shift work hours so that leaves me to train alone during the week, so this week I am trying for 20 miles every other day and finally the weather is starting to cool off here so optimum riding weather is coming - yay! Sorry about your spill - I had a similar one and wore my road rash well! Hope your bike will be all fixed up soon so you can get back out there.

That's great, Ariel! I don't know what the clicking could be except maybe a loose bolt, but I'm sure the bike shop folks will figure it out. Keep up the good work!

Nice rides, congrats! My only suggestion for the noise is check the cleats on your shoes. The bike guys will do the rest. Maybe just the seat rails.

    Carbon seat post?

I have a carbon post on my ti frame that started creaking. I tried cleaning it - no help... I had to get some friction paste to put on it. That cleared up the creaking right away. I'm glad that worked as it was going to drive me completely nuts...

Unfortunately it may not necessarily be your seat post. Clicking or creaking can be *a lot* of things. A pedal or a cleat might creak or click, a sticky link in the chain can cause a click you'll feel. A bottom bracket bearing can go bad and click, etc, etc, etc.

    Thanks everyone!

The road rash is on my elbow about 1 inch long. I have 2 splotchy bruises on my hip.

Seat posts are not carbon (Madone 5.1) and lubbing did not help.

The clicking is heard only when I pedal if that makes any sense.

YAY for cooler weather! Last night at the end of the group ride was a refreshing breeze- it was awesome!

I just checked bike journal- I have 292 miles this month and over 1,000 since I started logging them in June.

You and I must be separated at birth... I also had a duh oops and have been hearing clicking coming from near the front wheel. It's driving me nuts.

Hope your rash gets better soon... I only got the bruise as my bike wasn't moving. It just tipped over with me on it.
I can do five more miles.

Have you greased your saddle rails? Sometimes dry rails will cause clicking while pedaling. Just a light coat of park grease or similar does the trick.

Try searching on here for clicking sounds. I think someone posted that she solved her problem by removing and re-lubing her pedals.

I was just about standing still. I basically tipped over sideways!

No on the saddle rails. Mechanic took the seat off and took apart the rail holders (sorry dont know what they are called) and greased them. No joy.

I will do that thanks for the suggestion. I could swear the sound was coming from the front so I was fiddling with the brake cables and stuff to see what it was. At the bike shop they found that putting pressure on the seat with no pedaling made it happen.
