I'm also beginning to see a few leaves changing here, but it'll be weeks before things reach their peak. I made chili yesterday, so soup season has officially started! Also planning on going apple picking some time this week. To me, fall is about sunny, comfortable days, and cool nights. I can still enjoy being outdoors and not have to drip with sweat or put a million layers on. Then at night, I can curl up on the couch with a blanket and some hot chocolate

    Fall is my favorite season.

I love the angle of the sun right now. The crisp chilly air in the mornings (though I'm sure we will have several more hot spells before fall really sets in). The leaves on some of the trees are beginning to change. I go the long way to work just to watch one tree in the median of Highway 9 slowly turn to bright red. There aren't a lot of trees that turn spectacular color in Northern CA, but Chinese Pistache, Gingko, and Liquidambar do put on a show.

Soup! I have veggie soup in the Crock Pot this minute.

It won't be long before I bring my wool and cashmere sweaters out of storage.

Cycling in the fall is so much more comfortable than summer.

Five One- Chinese Pistache grow very well in Texas, I am trying to convince DH that is what we should plant so we can have some color. He doesn't want something decidous.

Oh, but they have such small leaves. Not much to rake. They are great trees. Easy to grow and maintain, beautiful color in the fall. At least they are here in CA. Highly recommended by DH who is a consulting arborist by trade .

How weird, it is the Aggie site I looked at and started telling DH about! He says the Chinese Pistache all look "scraggly" which is when I tell him but the Aggie Site says they are a "Texas Superstar". We can get a 30 to 45 gallon for cheap since he is in the business and probably can get some planting done for a discount as well. I will keep working on him, we have a month before the tree purchase.

Problem is we only can have one tree in our small, narrow backyard and with him working around them all day he likes about 7 different ones.

Having grown up in Virginia, fall is my favorite time of year! And eventhough I have lived in Florida since 1990, I still get all excited when the season comes. We have a very subtle change here, but my golden rain tree starts dropping its leaves, my southern red maple will actually turn colors, and the cooler temps are very welcome after the blazing hot summer. It also means that hurricane season is winding down - the official end is in November. I still try and do some traditional things - making pumpkin and apple recipes, hanging a fall wreath on my door and breaking out my little fall decorative things. I buy Yankee candles in fall scents: cinnamon/apple, etc. And I love being able to wear some of my fall clothes too - I love sweaters! My friends in Virginia and Wyoming send me real leaves in the mail too so that I don’t feel left out of the season! I love opening letters from my best friend and having fresh sagebrush and fall leaves in it! Fall also means that I can get into some serious yard work - summer is too hot to do a lot of it. And the best part is the cycling. I am looking forward to my cooler rides!

I spent yesterday driving through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. (I was going to the Pearl Izumi outlet, but now I'm sorry I did after Andrea's post.)

The fall color is not near peak, yet, but it is still quite stunning up in the higher elevations. I've been in Vermont for a week and I'm actually a little tired of pumpkins, quaint villages with farm stands, and changing leaves. So, I'm going to a Weezer concert.
